We have some new projects, some new iron, and some
new faces. I just met a few of the new employees and welcomed them
all to our family of Companies. I explained that safety is our
Priority One; to come home the same way we leave our homes in the
morning is the most important part of employment here at WQI. I
think that surprised a few of them. “Good,” I thought. Let’s all
remember that the start of the season generally has a higher
potential for accidents than any other time of the year. Let’s all
help each other to go home safe.
There are some very exciting things happening now.
Hats off to the shops and all those involved in getting the
equipment ready and on time for start up. It is just amazing the
amount of work that can be done and yet meet deadlines. The special
projects at the Bowser Quarry are also very impressive. There is a
new wash plant, bridge, and plant sites that all look very
impressive. Good job to all who contributed!!
It already looks like we are going to have a good
year at WQI. Let’s hope Congress passes the next six-year
reauthorization of our transportation bill in time for the 2004
construction season. Write, call, or e-mail your elected officials
in Washington DC to let them know how we all depend on this funding
for our jobs. We have support information in our DeWitt office to
assist you in these statements.
On another note: What I have seen regarding Fidelity
Investments and how it compares to Wells Fargo is all good! These
conversion times are frustrating, but after the initial changeover,
it is my opinion that better service will lead to better returns.
This will be noticeable to all. Please be patient during this
conversion time.
Have a good and safe construction season.
