Wendling
Quarries has participated in a couple of sponsorship activities
this year which show our support for education in the
communities that we serve.
One
activity is sponsorship of the Little Louie Reading Club for
Kids, for which Ron Lehne has been our contact person. The
Clinton Lumberkings, a local minor league affiliate of the Texas
Rangers, operates a program to reward kids for reading. Students
must read for a certain amount of time outside school to earn
free tickets to a baseball game. Michael Kober, 5th Grade
Teacher at Fulton Elementary School in Fulton, IL says “this
incentive program has gotten kids to read more who in the past
didn’t like to read.

Wendling
also recently received a nice letter addressed to all of the
businesses that participated in the Adopt-a-Classroom program in
DeWitt. For three years running, Wendling has adopted a
classroom at DeWitt Ekstrand Elementary school. During the year,
we participate in different projects such as decorating for
holidays, reading programs, tours of our facility, and
discussions of our industry. Dan Darland has been our contact
person in setting up our company’s participation in this
program
While
we adopt one classroom, we interact with many here in DeWitt and
elsewhere in the towns where we do business. These opportunities
provide us the chance to maintain our good image with the youth
of today and their parents. It also provides us the opportunity
to address the Stay Out - Stay Alive program.
We
are proud of the time we spend to interact with these fine
youth, of supporting education, and shaping the future.
