I was in the process of writing an article for the mirror when I heard from several people that they were writing one. It sounded like we were all writing about the same thing, so I just deleted a 6-paragraph article so as not to be repetitious. In the meantime, we had a storm roll through late Sunday night (7/20) and I know for a fact that we had several crews, and individuals out checking the quarries and the water to see if any place was in trouble. It was then that I thought that this would be a good topic for the Mirror and a darn good time to thank everyone that does this type of thing and never gets recognized. I cannot begin to put names behind all the situations because I will forget someone and hurt some feelings. But as I sign time cards, I see where someone has checked a pump somewhere. I don’t mean they are going once in a while to check a pump, I mean this could be for weeks that people are going Saturday and Sunday to check or turn on pumps or the hot oil for the AC plant. These people do this because they care. Normally, this has not been an assigned duty, especially when unexpected storms come through. Most all of our people have a real “buy in” to the place they work or they would not be doing this. Well, from the management team here at Wendling, I give you a BIG THANK YOU. Most of the time we will find out about it through the communication process but it may be several days later. At that point, I’m sure you might feel as if no one knows. Most of the time, we do know. Most of you know who you are and the self-pride that you have when you are doing an after hours, behind the scenes task. It’s this kind of teamwork that makes Wendling Quarries such a unique place to work. It’s the “YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE ATTITUDE”.
THANKS! |
