It
seems every year we have reason to challenge our “Dredging
Crew”; this year certainly is no different.
Neil
Shaull and Dean Paup have stepped up to the challenge and are on
track to have an outstanding year.
When
I look back over the past 20 – 25 years and compare the past
with the present, it’s remarkable to see the changes. Just to
name a few, over the years we have gone from a gravity screen
and settling bin to a computer controlled classifier. We have
gone from 150 tons per hour production to well over 400 tons per
hour. We have gone from 8’ steel pipe to 10’ plastic.
The
list goes on, but the most noticeable change is our moving
times. Twenty-five years ago moving from one site to another was
a 3 to 4 week project we attempted once maybe twice a year.
The
past few years we have been moving 4 to 5 times a season, taking
from 5 to 8 days, depending on available help.
In
April this year we moved from Ivanhoe to Hess in just 3 days!
That’s from the time they quit producing at Ivanhoe until they
started producing at Hess - in 3 days!!
For
those of you that don’t know all that is involved in tearing
down, moving 25 semi loads, setting back up, and making spec
materials, 3 days is amazing!
For
all those involved, Neil and Dean, our trucking department, to
all the extra help, “Way to go” and thanks for your hard
work and efforts.
Oh,
by the way, we have 6 moves scheduled this year, and
approximately 400,000 total tons, and as I kid Steve, all
through an 8 ¾ inch pipe.
Keep
up the good work!
