Here it is the beginning of August and time for another newsletter.

On April 22nd, we started the year in Guthrie County on Hwy 925 laying hot mix. While in Guthrie, we produced and layed around 63,000 ton and finished on June 12th. During this job, Dale and his crew came and helped a lot. Denny’s crew was able to keep mainline paving while Dale and his crew did some patching and intersection work in the city of Dexter. Dale’s crew then stayed and finished the shoulder work along with the final cleanup.

From Guthrie County, Denny and crew went to Hwy 85 in Poweshiek County. For this job, we utilized the Malcom plant and the new silo we put up last year. Steve Ranfeld and his guys had the plant in good repair and the old girl ran great. This job was 26,000 ton. While this job was being built, Curt Chambers and crew moved the portable plant to Benton County and did some maintenance on the plant. We finished laying hot mix on July 3rd and finished shouldering on July 10th.

Next, we headed to Benton County, Garrison Quarry. Again, we used Dale McCammant’s crew to lend a helping hand. On July 3rd, Spooner and some of his crew showed up to remove some old rotten concrete so Dale could patch it back in with some good hot mix. Denny and crew showed up on July 11th and started the mainline. The first job (Keystone) was 11,000 ton over a milled surface that Dick Prusha and crew had milled. We then moved to the Luzerne job, which was a full depth reclamation job. Kurt Kelley, Lonnie White and crew did the reclaiming. On this job, we layed 12,000 ton and then went to Belle Plaine and did 2,400 ton of extra work that we had gotten. This work was completed on July 25th. Denny and crew shouldered the two jobs on the following Monday and Tuesday while the plant was being moved to Hamilton County.

Now, at the beginning of August, we just started Hamilton County yesterday. Steve Armstrong hopes to have this job done around Labor Day. This job is 40,000 ton of hot mix at 7 locations in the county.
