  Essay on America
Eric Johnson

Perhaps we Americans are ignorant and it's America’s fault that our citizens were murdered.  Perhaps we aren't tolerant or understanding and accepting of others views.  Perhaps we Americans murder women and children indiscriminately.  Perhaps we burn flags and riot in the streets.  Perhaps we Americans abuse women by mutilating their genitals; forcing them into seclusion and ignorance; or beheading them for showing too much ankle.

Or perhaps we Americans, to those of you who are truly ignorant and are filled with malevolence, America is something you will never understand.  Perhaps you are filled with acrimony and repugnance for the freest form of society this world has ever seen.  Perhaps you don't like the fact that no matter how asinine, how foolish, or how impetuous some of our citizens we Americans don't fear ideas.  225 years ago some audacious, radical ideas about freedom and liberty were earned for common people.  From those ideas came a country that has not always been right, but has always strived to improve upon the human condition.  America is stronger than educators, whose living is paid by the government they despise, that spout gibberish about "national chauvinism" or blame others psychological depravities on hard working, patriotic Americans.  Americans tolerate this shortsighted, moronic traitorous babble amazingly well.  We don't fear these dangerous ideas, but we do have a responsibility to not allow unrealistic viewpoints to endanger all Americans liberties.  For too long I have heard the cry of patience, tolerance, or appeasement America must be vigilant for there is a clear and omnipresent danger facing America.  Religious fanatics drive for power wish to replace liberty with their own vision of society.  I would submit that it is America's moral obligation to destroy inherently immoral conduct.  Murderers have drawn the line; Americans must bear any burden to stop terror.

Eric is Plant Man for Scott Bormann at CR South and is the son of Carl Johnson (deceased) who was the Curshing Superintendent at Moscow quarry. Eric is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Kirkwood/Mount Mercy while working full-time! Eric has plans to be married in December . Before Wendling, Eric served four years in the United States Army, as well as 6 years in the Reserves. He recently received the Presidential Student Service Award for his work with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Eric said, when asked why he’s a Big Brother, “It’s neat to watch the kids grow up and change. It’s also nice to be able to be a role-model for kids that don’t have a positive role-model in their lives.” Way to go Eric!
