D.O.T. Classes
Allen Heintz
As we wind down the season and get ready for the winter months, we should keep in mind the classes and updates we need.

Remember you must attend 2 updates within the 5 years till your recertification needs to be taken. There is some confusion on this subject, if your certification expires in December of 2001. You should have already taken your 2 updates prior to this year. You can only take one update per year with the exception of 1 being Concrete and 1 for Hot Mix Asphalt in one year. You can’t take two concrete updates the same winter season as you will only be credited for one a year. This is your responsibility to keep on top of this and make sure you get these. The 90-day grace period is for the winter months of the year you expire, to run you through March of the following year (ex. March of 2002). As the classes are only during the winter months, this is why you would use the grace period.

Effective this year all full time Quality Control testers will attend updates every year. This will keep us better informed and know what changes are going on out there. These updates do not cost us anything to go.

If anyone has any questions as to what they have or are in need of for updates, you need to contact me and we will discuss what you need.

On January 2, 2002 we will have a refresher class at the Tama plant for those who are going in for recertifications this winter.

Joni Linder will be giving this class and going over the items you should see on the tests. There will be time for any hands on training you may need also. This will start at 9:00 AM and run till about noon. Most of you have already contacted me about wanting this, so lets have a good turn out and be ready for the tests.

If anyone has any questions concerning these classes please feel free to call me in Brooklyn and we will discuss it.

Thank you and have a safe, happy holiday.
