There are a lot of big things happening around the office lately. With this bypass project so close and the new building going up it seems that everyone is involved somehow.

We also have a new face in the department, but I can happily say that the adjustment period on everyone’s behalf has gone very well.

Randy Mork started in place of Ginny in early October. Previously, he had worked for Goss Printing in Marion. He very recently moved to town and is living on the main drag in Brooklyn near the Catholic Church. Be sure to honk your horn when you drive by late at night!

Seriously, though, he brings in some top-notch programming and management skills that will be utilized to their fullest here at Manatt’s. He is married with 2 girls and a boy, 2 cats, and 1 dog. What a move that must have been!

When you're in Brooklyn, stop in and meet Randy!

In October the company bid its first jobs via the Internet for the state letting. Things went very smoothly and we even got a little work. I was able to attend the letting in Des Moines and shuffled quotes around via fax and email until the wee hours of the morning . . .what a blast! Doing this was a gigantic step for us; especially considering the consequences had something gone wrong. It took a group effort and a lot of trust in all of this great technology we’ve amassed in the company.

“Good job” to everyone involved, the effort will pay big dividends as we continue to stay on the cutting edge of the industry.

I hope everybody has a Happy Holiday season. Be safe and stop in this winter to say hello to us when you get a chance.
