Although you may feel that you pay
way too much in taxes, it’s important that the tax withheld from
your pay, plus any other estimated tax payments you make, comes close
to the amount of tax due when you file your federal income tax return.
Reason: You could be penalized if you haven’t paid enough money to
the government all year long.
On the other hand, if you’re getting a large refund, the government has been holding your money without paying you any interest. Either way, it’s important to review the number of exemptions you are claiming on your W-4 on an annual basis. Some reasons to file a new W-4 are listed below:
