Where do I begin? This has been the busiest fall to
date for the IT Department. As most of you already know
Jamie Kriegel left us in September. I am very pleased
to say that we were able to replace her with another
great addition to our team. Sandy McAntire has been
with us now for about a month and is doing a fantastic
job. Many of you have already worked with her and I see
her plate getting more full every day. This issue of
the Mirror is also her first crack at “big-time” desktop
publishing for us, so be sure the let her know what you
think. |

Candace has been real busy with the latest release
of the Viewpoint software. We’ve been a “beta tester”
for Viewpoint since the middle of the year…that means
that we get the latest versions and fixes before they’re
actually released to anybody else. It also means that
we see a lot more bugs and glitches when we do an
update. There are a lot of advantages to being a beta,
and our whole staff (users included) have handled it
very well.
John is getting his office ready as we speak for
our winter batch of computers. During the months of
December and January he’ll process in the neighborhood
of 35 machines. The magnitude of that workload is
pretty amazing when you stop and think about it. Those
of you getting new or different computers for this year
will have him thank! Remember, if you’ve got a bug or a
question with your machine that John is available to fix
it.
We were able to get the Christmas decorations put up
early enough to avoid frozen fingers this year. If
you haven’t been through Brooklyn yet you’re missing out
on an amazing display. This year we added a 57’
(as in longer than a van trailer) Santa and reindeer to
the front yard. Candace and Sandy did a great job
helping with the setup. Useless Trivia: It
took 39 man hours to set up the display this year.

The Brooklyn office will be getting a new phone
system during the weekend of December 10th
thru the 13th. There is never a good time to
implement a system like this. It’s easy to lose touch
with how dependant we’ve become on a simple thing like
your telephone. For the hassles involved in getting
this system set up and working it will pay bigger
dividends when it HAS to work next spring and summer.
I hope everybody has a good holiday
season. As always: call, email, or stop in
if there is anything we can do for you. |
