Another season has come to an end and I am happy to
say that we had very few incidents to report to Nancy.
The crews did a great job watching out for each other
this past year.
Our most challenging project this past year was on
I80. For our portable plant we started and ended the
season working on this project. Having to open up to
both lanes of traffic by 6:00 A.M. on Friday morning
made for a few late nights. In a previous newsletter I
laid out the particulars of the project, so I won’t go
into them again.
We also worked on Hwy 175 from Ellsworth to
Hubbard, and in Hardin County in old Hwy 389 that was
turned over to the county prior to us doing the
project. The other major project we did this year was
up in Calhoun County. I am proud to say that the
company won a smoothness award for this project at the
annual APAI convention, which was held the first week of
December.
This past season the crew laid 259,000 Ton of HMA
and was done by the middle of October. After we shut
down the portable plant, the crew helped out the
commercial crew finish up their work. The season came
to an end for most people around the middle of November.
I hope that everyone will have a great holiday
season and enjoy your time off because it isn’t that far
off until another season will be upon us. At this time,
I don’t have good news about work for next year but I am
confident that we will have some work to do when the
time comes.
In December we will be bidding on a project in
Boone and Greene Counties on Hwy 30 and a county project
in Chickesaw.
We hope to come away from this letting with at
least one of these projects.
Look forward to seeing everyone back for 2005. |
