Wendling’s new Safety Director, John Kulper, and
Assistant Safety Director, LuAnn Herch, have recently
finished their first 8 hour Refresher Training. The
training is required by MSHA for all employees involved
in production activities at mining operations. This year
approximately 170 Wendling employees and 7 Manatts
employees attended the training sessions held on 11/22,
11/23, and 11/29.
Evaluation forms were given to attendees to help
judge the employees perceptions of the new format. This
year the Safety Department chose to use our own
employees as ‘competent persons’ to assist in the
training. Those submitting evaluations generally showed
positive results and overwhelmingly supported the new
program.
Special thanks go out to the following employees
that showed their courage and strong commitment to
safety by presenting the various safety training
portions. It is not easy to get up in front of large
crowds like those attending the training and put on the
quality programs they did.
