Right are some of the pictures from the Iowa
Speedway now under construction. They were
having a bad subgrade problem with water
leaching through the banking of the future track
surface. We were asked to install a 6" subdrain
around the outside of the track to intercept the
water before it crossed under the track. This
subdrain had to be installed from 8' to 14'
deep. This is a lot deeper than what our
equipment can handle. We contacted Robinson
Service Inc. from Earlville, Iowa to install
this portion of the subdrain. They brought in a
vertical trencher (right) which was set up with
a 16" boom to accomplish this project. We
assisted in the backfilling and compaction of
the trench. This manpower came from Dick Prusha
and his milling crew and Jake Boyer in the
trackhoe compacting the trench. We still have
approximately 6000' to install around the inside
of the track with Bob's crew this year if the
weather will allow.
