It’s been a very busy year with a lot of changes. We
have lost Todd Brown to managing the Montezuma Ready Mix
Plant. This is a move up for Todd and I wish to thank
him for a job well done while he was in QC. Jeff
Thompson has been taking care of the South Ready Mix
Plants. He has had an excellent challenge this year
with the numerous plants requiring inspection and, as
usual, they all want it done at the same time. Scott
Papish has been working the paving plants doing plant
inspection. In addition, he has been bouncing around
with the crews, assisting the Parts Department, and
running mixers for the paving crews. Kelsey Merical
worked during the summer helping with the plant
inspection on the paving crews. Brad Karsten, our
newest HMA Inspector and Mix Designer, has been keeping
the Newton Plant covered and, in his spare time, he has
been helping out Gary Netser at L.L. Pelling while
gaining more mix design knowledge from Gary. Next
spring, Brad will be taking over doing the HMA mix
design in Brooklyn. Larry Clarkand and Jeff Jenkins
have been keeping Steve Armstrong’s crew going on the
HMA Portable Plant this year. Our newest employee that
was hired this fall is Ann O’Clair. Ann lives in Traer
and has a B.A. in Geology. She will be going through
the DOT classes this winter to be certified. She has
been working in the field to get hands on knowledge.
Ann will be another great asset to the department. Jay
Lindenmayer has been out on the Portable PCC Plants
working, and, in between, doing radio work. Jay has
been an all around person this year where needed. He
will be working through the winter again doing installs
and equipment repairs. And, last but not least, there
is Kevin Sorensen. Kevin has been helping out with
North Ready Mix Plant inspection and in his spare time,
he has been running the Profilograph for us. Kevin has
Profilographed approximately 155 lane miles. That’s a
lot of walking but I’m sure it was all down hill both
ways. I wish to thank you all for a job well done and
for the safe productive year you have completed. Keep
up the good work. I wish everyone a safe and Happy
Holiday. |
