Hi everyone my name is Nicholas J.
(SMOKE) Mills
My dad and I were lucky enough to get
to tour the Iowa Speedway three weeks ago.
Thanks so much to everyone who had a hand in
this. First of all we stopped at the office
and met Shelly Moore she was great. She gave me
a hard hat and some pictures of Rusty Wallace, a
T-shirt and some other fun stuff. She then
introduced us to Jeff, He was our personal tour
guide along with Shelly and Cindy we jumped in
the truck and took a ride down to the track. I
was amazed at how big it is. My Dad takes me to
the West Liberty Speedway every Saturday night
and it is not near this big.
We went to the tunnel and there we took some
pictures and got a close up look at the track.
It is a D shaped oval just like so many |
|
of the NASCAR Tracks. It also has a road course
built in the infield.
It looks like the dirt work is almost done
and they say they are going to start pouring
concrete for the buildings soon. I will keep you
posted on the progress as much as I can.
I also got to sit in a sample of the
Grandstands {left} they are nice but
you will want to bring your cushions to the
races. hahahaha

First and foremost I would
like to thank you, Cindy Delarosa.
Without you, none of this would have
been possible. Next I would like to
thank Brad Manatt, I have yet to meet
Brad but I hope that sometime in the
near future I will so I can say thank
you in person. Last but certainly not
least I would like to thank Shelly Moore
at the Iowa Speedway. Shelly welcomed us
with open arms and an open heart.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! |

--A Note From Cindy DelaRosa
Rich Mills is a
superintendent for Carl E. Nelson. They
are working on the Monsanto project down
by Huxley that we have been supplying
concrete to throughout the summer. When
Rich told me about Nick and how ecstatic
he was about the Iowa Speedway being
built, I felt that push from Tom and
checked with Brad to see if there was
something we could do. We gave Nick the
job of Teen Track Tracker. Nick will be
visiting the Speedway from time to time
and snapping a few photos for us to keep
us updated on the progress. Nick is an
amazing individual. I know my life is
richer having met him. |

I would like to say a little
something about my son. He is 18 and a
senior at the Muscatine High School in
Muscatine Ia. He has been on the Honor
Roll since he was a freshman and he is
the biggest race fan to ever roam the
planet. My Idea was to get him something
for his graduation that will stay with
him forever, That is when I met Cindy
and one thing lead to another and here
we are. We will be at the first Race at
the speedway and hopefully I will get
him to a Nextel Cup Race this spring. So
with that said I will let Nick tell you
about his trip. Once again, thanks to
everyone who has made this
possible. Richard
Mills
