Throughout the summer, many of the construction
workers noticed the on-looker and would wave a
greeting in his direction. As the season
progressed, so did the budding friendship
between the cast and the audience. Eventually,
all were on a first name basis and the boy would
look forward to the daily interaction. By the
time for the underground concrete pour had come,
Brock had extracted a squatter’s claim to the
naming rights. Far below the dirt and gravel,
the initials B. A. W. were carefully carved into
the fresh concrete canvas as Brock Allen Warner
supervised from the safety of the store front
window.
This story was shared with me by Phyllis Van Es,
proprietor of Images in Grinnell. It only took
a moment to give this young man some
extraordinary memories. This is yet another
sample of the thoughtful and conscientious
actions from the outstanding individuals that
make up our crews. |
