Season Greetings from the Accounting Department!!
Wow -- the 2005 construction year has come and is about
gone. I still thought we had months left in the season
until Mother Nature colored her landscape a perfect
white and I realized how close we were to the Holiday
Seasons.
Like everyone, the accounting department was busy. Last
year I talked about change as a result of technology
advancements and outside entities. We continue to
advance on the changes we made last year and this year
pertaining to work orders, ready mix ticket invoices,
purchase orders and electronic ticketing of materials.
Each in their own right has made Manatt's, Inc. a better
company but there is always room for improvement and
other opportunities.
The opportunities that will challenge us next year will
be setting up parts inventories at other shop locations,
scanning and reviewing the way we do things to see if
there is a better more cost effective or friendly way of
doing it. When you review things, there is usually one
of 3 results. First, you find nothing and are a bit
disappointed but have a better understanding of the
whole process. Second, you find something and the
solution is staring you right in the face. Finally, you
find something but it opens a whole other set of doors
that must be explored before a decision is made. Many
will state the best result is the second one. But let’s
face it, when change occurs it rarely happens without
understanding the whole process and opening and closing
several doors on the way. I’m proud of Manatts, Inc.
and of each of you on how far we’ve come.

Even though it started in accounting, it’s catching.
The tire shop’s (shown above, from left—Rick Hurst ,
Gary Merical, Marty Johnson, and Chad Schmidt) use of
the computer has made them a well-organized team. This
success assisted James Weiermann in his decision in
using computers in his area. It first started with Ron
Puls in alignment to just last Monday scheduling
computer training for his all employees so that they all
can be more efficient in their jobs with the use of a
computer. Thank you for your determination and
proactive thinking in making Manatt's, Inc. a stronger
company.
Challenge yourself to explore a more effective or better
way that you can do your job. It may be something
simple that you can do yourself, or complex where
assistance from others is needed. So please just take a
few moments and think of things; the list may surprise
you or help someone else.
In
reviewing the financials, we’ve had a very successful
year and it is the result of everyone’s hard work.
During the upcoming Holiday Season and layoff, if it
applies, enjoy the time off to the fullest with family
and friends without any unnecessary risk. You’re the
reason Manatt’s Inc. is successful and we want to see
you back next year. Best wishes to you and your family
during the holidays and into the New Year.
