a
sidewalk around a current patio in front
of the school with each of the kids’
handprint in it.
After working closely with Nancy
Showers, on October 11th
& 12th,
Tim’s idea finally became a reality.
Manatts joined forces on the project
with Partners in Education, Schott
Construction and the Waterloo Fire
Department. Each of the over 400
children was allowed to put a handprint
in the concrete wearing a plastic glove
for safety. All the teachers and all of
us (volunteers) put a handprint in as
well. The Waterloo staff including
Larry Keller, Dave Distler, Chas
Wagoneer and Carolyn Hotzel helped on
the project. Burt Ostert & Joe Yuhas
(Liberty Mutual) were on hand to make
sure that all the proper safety
precautions were in order. Holly
Collison from Basic Materials also
helped and photographed the project. It
was a great project; kids will be
showing their handprints off for years
to come. |
