Another
year is coming to an end. Looks like we’re going to shut down
late this fall. Typically we shut down the asphalt plant by
Thanksgiving. This year with the poor weather in conjunction
with a lot more work coming in, it looks like we’ll keep
working into December. I hope the weather holds out.
This
year has been a little slower than the past. However, we’ve
had a few large projects with a lot of smaller projects. This
summer we completed Jack
Trice football stadium parking lots and this fall we’ve
just finished 3M.

Jack
Trice Gets New Parking Lots!
We’ve
gotten a lot of work on new subdivisions. It seems that they’re
selling all the new lots in these new subdivisions as fast as we
can build them. Hopefully, that will continue next year.
Due
to the weather, Steve Rooney and the grading crew have been busy
digging out dirt in parking lots and installing rock bases so we
can have something stable to pave on. In order to get some of
these subdivisions done we’ve had to install fly ash with the
help of Kurt Kelley in order to stabilize the sub base so that
we can pave them.
At
the beginning of the year we didn’t think we would have enough
work to keep everyone busy. Have we been proven wrong. Joel
Clayton and his crew are expanding their scope of work to
include building bridges these days. I don’t know if he would
consider this work his specialty though.
Brad
Lenz and the concrete crew have been really busy trying to keep
up with the new subdivision work while juggling the other work
also.
Randy
Hugen and his crew along with Craig Kalinay and the asphalt crew
have been busy finishing up the asphalt work.
Have
a great holiday season!
