As
we watch the crews come in for shut down, the equipment go into
the shops for maintenance, and the majority of workers going on
lay off, We realize it’s that time of year - a time to reflect
and relax with family and friends.
During
this time, I look back at what all we have done this year. While
I was heavily involved with the new building, and now a parking
lot expansion across the road, the Quality Control Team pulled
together for a successful season.
Going
into the season, we were short of help and often wondered how
everything was going to be covered in the field. Last spring, we
all sat down and I told everyone we would wait to hire till next
season. We knew it was going to be tight this year for help, but
everyone agreed that no matter what came up we would work
together and get the job done.
This
past season was a prime example of what can happen when everyone
gives 110% and works together as a team.
We
plan to have classes this winter after the training center that
Mike Viehdorfer and Alan Manatt are building above us in the new
building is completed.
Jamie
and I will have classes this winter covering the different Plant
reports and how to navigate them on your computer. This will be
open to all Inspectors interested in attending, including our
affiliate companies.
If
anyone has an interest in attending, please give me a call or
email me and I will make sure you see the schedule as soon as we
have it ready!
I
am currently putting together a refresher class on testing with
hands on tests. This will include asphalt, concrete and a high
probability of soil testing.
In
closing I wish to thank the Owners for a great year, the Quality
Control Team, CMT, the corporate staff in Brooklyn and my wife.
May
all of you have a safe and joyous Holiday Season.
