If
someone would have told me that we would be working 4 day work
weeks in this industry I would have driven him/her to see Dan
Boyer for a drug test!
I
never would have believed it, but that is exactly what happened
in the Commercial Asphalt world this year. We never really got
busy until the end of July. Once again the Jasper County
Engineer saved the year with the work the Commercial and
Portable crew completed this year.
The
job market was down again for our Malcom plant—only 2,631 tons
for the year. The new silo did not get used much, but hopefully
in the future it will pay off!
The
Newton plant produced 39,707 tons compared to 41,835 tons last
year mostly due to the work in Jasper County.
The
Commercial work load out of both plants was down big-time (just
like my 401K). One thing I have not figured out is how to make
people spend money!
I
would like to say thank you to the road and plant crew for the
time and effort they contributed to this season! You people
really produced some fine looking work this year!
