It
doesn’t seem possible that this year is almost over. It just
went too fast. It has been a challenge for all of us. The work
wasn’t out there and the prices were depressed, but we are
getting through it in pretty good shape.
During
years like the past one, everyone has to work smarter, and we
have this year. We have to watch our costs and try to control
them better, which we have. We have to try to reduce our costs
and one way we can do this is to reduce our accidents and the
costs that go with them. Each and every one of us can help by
doing this.
Most
of you recognize our Company slogan, “To do every job we do
better than anyone else.” It was changed a couple of months
ago, and I’m not sure how many of you realized it. It has been
changed to: “To SAFELY do every job we do better than anyone
else.” Yes, we do want to do every job we do better than
anyone else, but we want it done in a safe and accident free
manner.
Accidents
take the fun out of work. It is no fun to hear that someone has
gotten hurt, or something has been damaged. Every time someone
gets hurt or something is damaged, it is costly, not just to the
Company, but also to the employee and his family.
This
is an area where we all can do a lot in cutting costs – no
matter what kind; dollars to the Company, dollars to the
employee, or pain and stress to the employee’s family. This
has been talked about before and will be again. We cannot stress
its importance enough. Please keep it in mind in everything you
do. Fix things that need to be fixed, watch out for yourself and
those around you, wear your personal protective equipment. Let’s
try to make this winter and next year and every year after that,
the safest yet. It takes each and every one of us to think
safety at all times to reduce our accidents. So, please –
think safety at all times.
Wally
Rohrer has decided to retire when we close the plant in Victor
this winter. Wally has worked for us for 37 years. He was hired
on May 1, 1965. That’s a long time; he probably deserves a
break. We are going to miss Wally down there at Victor, along
with his sweet voice when he answers the phone. Thank you Wally,
for all you have done for us over the years. Enjoy your
retirement – you deserve it!!
Kyle
Lint will take Wally’s place as the plant manager for the
Victor plant. Kyle has been a mixer driver out of products for
the past three years. He also, lives in the Victor area.
Thank
you all for everything that you’ve done for us during the past
year. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a safe and
prosperous new year.
