Once
again, this year started out slowly. We had some work on the
books but we had to wait for subcontractors to get their work done
first. As the year went along, we were able to fill the
gaps. The workload was not great but the crew and plant were
able to work a strong five days a week and stay away from the
four-day weeks. I pushed a couple of Saturdays in there
basically because of time frame deadlines.
This
year between the Newton and Malcom Plants we produced 100,900
Tons. Out of this 73,000 Tons came out of Malcom. In
2002 this plant produced 2600 Ton; quite a change. In the
past, I’ve written in the letters what was coming for next year
with none of it ever happening. This year I think I will keep
my mouth shut.
The
crew worked on a variety of jobs this year in a lot of
locations. One that stands out is the Tennis Courts we built
for Grinnell College. This job turned out extremely nice and
was quite an accomplishment. I started on this little project
3 years ago. The bad thing about a job like this is that all
of the work is covered up by fence and color. Kenny Jr. and
crew played a major part on this project.
Once
again I would like to thank the people in Brooklyn for the support
we receive on a daily basis. To the plant and road crew, I am
extremely proud to be a part of your daily lives. Everyone has
to work somewhere and I am glad your bus stopped here. Once
again you people produced a lot of really fine looking work.
