Winter
is nearly upon us! The days are starting to heat up for
everybody here in the IT/MIS departments. We say this over and
over, but our busy season is starting now and will start to tail off
in March. We have some very exciting projects planned for this
winter. Johnston and Ames are getting new servers to run their
dispatch program. We are installing 20-22 new PC's across the
company. With our theories on "trickle-down"
computer replacement that means in excess of 35 computers will be
jockeyed between users. These projects alone should take us
well into February.
The
SPAM situation around here has really started to get better.
We upgraded our mail server in April and up until the first week of
November we were rejecting an average of 70% of the unsolicited mail
directed at our domains. The software vendor that makes our
e-mail server has since come out with an updated scanning method
that has enabled us to identify upwards of 90% of unsolicited
email. Coupled with some simple to set up message rules in
Outlook Express, we are really cleaning up users' inboxes! If
you still have SPAM problems and would like to try the solution
we've developed, contact John Beaderstadt or myself and we'll get
you going.
Jamie
and Candace continue to make great strides in the Viewpoint
arena. We have completed so many custom reports, as well as
tweaks and upgrades to the software itself. I couldn't be more
proud of the job everybody has done to make this system work!
One of the bigger things on the horizon with Viewpoint is network
scanning of the paper trail…more to come on that subject in the
coming months!
That's
the quick and dirty rundown for this issue. If you're in
Brooklyn stop and see us. As always, call if there is anything
we can do!
