Thank You

My family extends our thank yous to the friends at Manatts that supported us with their thoughts and prayers during my mother’s illness.

We also appreciate the cards, flowers, and generous memorial gifts we received in her honor.  We plan to direct a portion of the memorial money toward a handicapped accessible project at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, some to the Koszta Methodist Church and some to the American Cancer Society.

Thank you again for all your support and God Bless you all!

Paul,
 You'll Be Missed!
Dan Boyer

You may already know about the tragedy involving one of our employees, Paul Welter.  He was killed in a two-vehicle accident near Independence in April.

Paul was on his way to Newhall to calibrate the plant when another driver crossed the centerline and struck Paul's vehicle head-on.  He died at the hospital in Cedar Rapids a short time later.

Paul was the shop mechanic for the Independence area but more than that, he was capable of tackling any job.  If something was broken, Paul could usually fix it.  He was, in addition to being a top-notch employee, a wonderful person and will be missed by many people.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his children, other family members, and Carolyn Hotzel, his very special friend.  He will be greatly missed!

A Tribute to Bob Barnett
Larry W.

All of us in the Manatt Family who knew and worked with him have been left with a void in our lives with the death of Bob Barnett.

Bob was the manager at the Metro West Des Moines batch plant for many years.  He possessed a skill for batching concrete the way the customer wanted it and took pride in his ability to do that.  Many drivers have been on the receiving end of a verbal education from Bob when they left water in the drum or washed down too much and got a load wet.

Bob had health problems for many years and after an operation in early December, 2000, he did not recover.

He returned to work on a part time basis in early January, 2001.  After several return stays in the hospital, he passed away on March 22, 2001.  Bob was 49 years old at the time of his death.  His family and all the Manatt family who knew him will miss him all the things he did that made him
a friend.
