During April 26-28, three groups of Wendling
Quarries, Inc. employees completed their
biennial First Aid Refresher Course. The course
is offered to meet MSHA regulations requiring
that someone trained in first aid is present on
each crew during working hours. All in all 52
WQI employees were certified in First Aid/CPR;
for the first time the training was offered to
employees such as office personnel who are not
required to have the certification. The class
was extended to include these additional people
to support WQI’s philosophy of ‘Taking Safety
Home’.
The course was taught this year by newly
certified trainers, John Kulper (Safety and
Environmental Director) and LuAnn Herch
(Assistant Safety and Environmental Director)
and included a great deal of hands on exercises
and class participation. Evaluations submitted
by attendees indicated that the class was
enjoyable and well received.
