Things are really busy in the Newton area.  Virg and his guys have been at the track placing some rock.  The asphalt at the track will probably get going around the second week of June.  Mike Viehdorfer should be placing the footing for the safety barrier.  Once that is in place Virg will be following right behind with rock.  As soon as the rock is in place and trimmed, the portable crew should be there and waiting to do the asphalt.

Another thing going on in Newton is a new shop and office building.  Henningson Construction out of Atlantic is the general on this project.  When it gets a little farther along we can have some pictures for the next newsletter.

The portable crew has been working in Poweshiek County so far this season.  They have been resurfacing Hwy 6 from Hwy 63 N to just East of V18.  They will be finishing the intermediate lift this week and be starting the surface layer.  We are sure hoping that one more layer will smooth it up.  This is the first job we are doing using the zero blanking band.  We will be able to give the verdict in the next newsletter.
