Environmental News

Mona Mond (a.k.a. 007)

Manatt plants had a great environmental season in 2001. All ready mix plants completed their 2001 storm water testing which is required by law to determine the potential contaminants coming off our yards. All reports came back good and there were no reportable spills from ready mix or asphalt plants.

The portable crusher was permitted for Polk County and will move in and out of there over the next few years.

A new permit was obtained for the Independence ready mix plant and the Elk Run plant is meeting or exceeding all environmental expectations.

Work will soon begin on the plant upgrade planned for Montezuma this year and we will be using the new IDNR forms which should speed up our permit process.

Recently, all plants received a new 2002 information questionnaire which will help us maintain updated records and get things moving for spring. Our plants each have an "environmental book" that is maintained on site for the managers and this is the information they are to share with the IDNR inspectors should their plant be checked.

Additionally, in early April all of the plants will receive their new 2002 storm water test kits from Test America or NET.

As always, the environment is everyone's job and it takes all employees to maintain the excellent record this company has for its respect of the land we live on.

Manatts Companies have an excellent reputation among regulators and it is my intention to maintain that status.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and getting the spring season off to a great start.
