Manatt's now has six active computerized inventories
within Viewpoint, contributing essential information for
everyone’s use. Having these inventories connected to
each other and sharing the same database dramatically
improves the accuracy of equipment costing and overall
accountability.
Simply put,
inventory is a tool to be used to increase
accountability while allowing mechanics and parts
personnel, shop and location managers, a greater degree
of control over costs. Inventories make it possible to
use Purchase Orders, Material Sales, and Work Order Edit
to their fullest potential, tracking every part and all
supplies from purchase to installation on a unit, sale
to a customer or an inter-company job or shop.
For shop or parts personnel, inventory provides
information on what parts are being charged to equipment
and when, the cost of those parts, and which vendor is
currently providing the best price. It can assist
personnel in finding the correct part in a timely manner
for their current project even if that part is in a
different location within Manatt’s. Inventory also
provides usage history per part, or for a range of
parts, to assist in determining what quantities need to
be stocked.
There has been a great deal of effort and time
invested in these six inventory locations by quite a few
hard working people. The results of this effort is
starting to show in the amount of accurate, useful and
timely information that can be so useful for making
future purchasing decisions. With more items being
entered into the Manatt’s inventory database on a daily
basis, the amount of useful information will keep
growing. The possibilities are only limited by the
amount of usage that inventory receives.
To make the entering of new items into inventory a
bit easier and to track those new items, Manatt’s now
has a Parts Number Request Page online at
www.manatts.com. To reach the
page, you must log in to the Corporate Intranet. If you
do not have a username and password, please contact
Sandy McAntire in the Brooklyn Office to get one
assigned to you.
The Parts Number Request Page is a fill in the
blank form that will send an email to inventory
personnel with all of the information needed for
researching, cross-referencing, and creating the part
number. The use of this web page is not a requirement,
however, it does make the process more accountable and
easier to track. The web page also contains very useful
links for shop and parts personnel, or anyone that wants
information about parts.
