The winter season has been a good one for the IT/MIS department.  It is looking like we are going to complete all the projects we set out to get done before April 1…the first time we’ve gone into the construction season ahead of schedule in 3 years!

One of the bigger “events” that takes place in Brooklyn each winter is our computer training program.  We started this year on December 12 and finished out the schedule on February 25.  In all we offered 29 classes covering everything from MS Office to keeping your PC healthy and operating properly.  Manatt’s is truly unique in offering this benefit to our employees.  Sandy McAntire did a wonderful job learning the ropes and getting butts in the seats over in our training room.  If you took part in any of the classes and enjoyed them be sure to tell her “thanks” for her hard work!  Thanks as well to the Manatts for allowing us to offer the program.  The improvement I’ve seen in the past 5 years with this regimen in place is amazing.

We’re still working the kinks out of the new phone system.  Tim Atkinson of Brooklyn Telecommunications and “Super Bob” from Hills Telephone have been great to work with and very accommodating to our demands.  Thanks guys!

John Beader has been working diligently on the new and improved Bid2Win package we implemented this winter.  Between that and the 40 or so computers he processed this winter he’s been quite busy!

Candace is still the center of our Viewpoint universe.  Lately we’ve been working with Laurie trying to get a scanning system implemented.  She has also been dabbling with some of the more advanced report writing features for the system.  It’s getting to the point where we’ll have to send her for more advanced SQL training!

I’m still trying to maintain an active presence at all of our offices.  It’s looking like we’ll have some time to posture our systems over the summer for some projects we’re already looking at for next year.  I try to plan our systems 24 months ahead because of the pace at which technology changes…neat things are coming down the pike!!!
