I was sitting at home Sunday afternoon when the
phone rang. When I answered the voice on the
other end asked if I was Tim Manatt with
Manatt’s. Never knowing with those kinds of
phone calls whether it’s a good thing or a bad
thing, I replied, “Well, kind of. Yes, this is
Tim. But I’m not really with Manatt’s anymore.
Who’s calling?”
He never did tell me his name but wanted to tell
me about one of Manatt’s employees. At this
point I’m still not sure whether this is a good
thing or a bad thing.
He proceeded to tell me how his wife had been on
her way to church and had a flat tire when one
of Manatt’s employees had stopped to help her.
At this point I knew it was another example of
how Manatt’s employees step forward when someone
needs help. Mike Watson was her rescuer that
day. Not only did Mike help this lady in need
change her tire, but when they got the tire
changed her battery had gone dead because of
having her lift-gate open the whole time. Mike
didn’t have any jumper cables with him so he
went and got some, came back and got her on her
way.
Mike’s reason for doing so: “If it were my wife
and kids I would hope someone else would stop
and help them.”
This is one of the many examples of the good
people at Manatt’s caring about and helping
other people. If my wife or kids are stranded
somewhere, I hope Mike Watson is close by. |
