It is that time of year again when a person’s mind turns to the thoughts of fishing, golfing, going on picnics, hunting mushrooms, to the construction season and the sights and sounds of milling machines working on projects where ever they are needed day or night. Our season has started with a bang. Our crews are working in most areas of the state already. Three of our crews are doing work on the Interstates working at night for various contractors. Over the course of the winter, we ordered a new W2000 Wirtgen mill with a variable width cutting system that will cut a standard 6 foot 7 inches or that can be set up with 2 foot, 3 foot or 4 foot cutting widths. We put this machine to work the first of April and it seems to be very well appreciated by its crew. We have 5 machines at this time with 4 crews, but we are hoping that with the people we have from the 4 crews, we can utilize personnel from them to man the 5th machine as needed. At this time, we have a fair amount of work, but it remains to be seen whether there will be ample amount of work coming our way from the upcoming lettings to keep our crews busy through out the season. Trying to coordinate schedules for all of our customers is a very trying job. So, schedule your work well in advance, as it will greatly enhance your chances of getting a crew there when you want it.
