I’m not one to brag much, but in this edition of the Manatt’s Mirror, I would like to brag about our hydraulic hose shop. We all know that downtime is costly, and one of the most frequent causes of downtime on equipment is hydraulic hose failure. Because we have a diversity of equipment, we have to have a diversity of hydraulic hose and hose ends. Every equipment manufacturer has it’s own idea of what kind of hose connection is best to use making diversity no simple task! |

On our equipment we use hose assemblies from National Pipe, British Parallel Pipe, JIS, For-Seal, Komatsu, and DIN, just to name a few. If you add this to the fact that these hose assemblies can reach 6,000 pounds, you’ll quickly appreciate our need to have such a diversified hose shop.
We have two hose lines that we rely on - Gates Hydraulics and Weatherhead. Both machines can handle up to 2” 6-wire hose. To back this up we keep about $100,000 worth of inventory devoted to just hose and ends.
We have managed to make quite a reputation for ourselves in this area, having made hoses for various John Deere, Caterpillar, Komatsu, and other dealers when they couldn’t build their own hoses. They tell me that they have never seen such an extensive hose shop as the one in the Brooklyn Shop.
Being able to keep our downtime to a minimum is a source of great pride for me. I’ve “tooted my horn”, but I just wanted to show another example of how Manatt’s, Inc. is living it’s motto: “To Safely to Every Job we Do, BETTER than anyone else”.
