So far, this season has treated us very well.  The crews are extremely busy and it appears that they are going to remain that way until the weather no longer permits us to work.

As usual, there are several people in the Manatts organization to whom we owe thanks.  Phil and his crew brought their mill into Muscatine and did a lot of work in a very short period of time.  The City Inspector was extremely impressed with the quality of their work.  Brian Wacha came to Durant with his mill August 12th after surviving “one of those days.”  Brian and his crew cleaned up some unsightly spots and did an excellent job of it.  Thanks to the entire Newton Milling Division for quality work and on-time delivery.

Mr. Jim Bim has also been added to our speed dial for equipment support when needed.  He has been a lifesaver on multiple occasions.

Larry Senger and his crew began the year on I-80 with a challenging night-time CRS-2 project.  They proceeded northwest to O'Brien County for some CRS-2 work under more favorable conditions.  Soon they will be headed back to O'Brien County for about twenty days to complete that project.

Larry Sammon’s crew is currently in Dubuque County and will soon be heading to Jackson County.  Poweshiek County and Scott County will be next on their long list of things to complete before the end of the season.

Randy recently acquired a substantial project in the City of West Des Moines.  Two crews will be busy for quite a while on an extensive PCC joint sealing project let by a city with more PCC maintenance work than the I.D.O.T.

Terry is back in Durant, completing Phase II of the Durant City Street Improvement Project.  He can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Each day we move a bit closer to completion.

The process of formal education that took place in the winter months has become evident in the quality work completed by the HMA crew this summer.  A project completed in July on Iowa Avenue for the City of Muscatine turned out beautifully.  An 8500 ton project let by HON ALLSTEEL in Muscatine resulted in some of our finest work yet.  Brian Armstrong and Jeff Herington, the crew’s primary leadership, have the HMA show running smoothly.  We are looking forward to finishing out this season with one of our best production years in recent history.

Thank you, again, for all of your help!  We wish you all a SAFE and productive season!
