The spring and summer for the milling crews have been
very busy thus far. Later this season the outlook
doesn’t look quite as bright. The lettings for the last
two months for the IDOT has been almost non-existent and
August looks like it is even poorer than the last two
month lettings. In visiting with the IDOT, they didn’t
see the September letting as being any better.
So far we have been able to avoid working the crews very
much on Saturdays and then only when prime contractors
schedules warranted it. It has also helped with
scheduling for Dick’s crew to have a low boy to move
when needed instead of trying to wait until Elmer could
work it into his schedule.
Our division is also seeing what A.C.C. and P.C.C.
divisions of the company are seeing in more competition,
less amount of work offered for bids and cheaper prices
for the work we do. |
