Shelly Robertson is the new face in Brooklyn.  She started on July 16 in the Accounting department as the assistant to the Controller/CFO.

Prior to working for Manatt's, Inc., Shelly was with Grinnell Reinsurance for 17 years.  While there, she worked in the finance department for 15 years and spent the remaining time as an in-house adjuster for general and work comp claims.

Shelly and her son, Eric, have just recently relocated to Brooklyn from Barnes City, which is where she was born and raised.   While in Barnes City, Shelly was very active in her community being the City Clerk, on-call 24 hours a day as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), active member in her church and as a Ruritan.  In her spare time, she does photography and whatever her son is into - currently it is fishing and a battery operated 4-wheeler.

The other thing that is keeping her busy these days is getting Eric ready for kindergarten this fall.  Who is more excited?  Who is more nervous?  Lets ask her after the first day of school – August 25th.

Since her joining us in July, Shelly is doing quite well!  So, the next time you’re in the Brooklyn office, come upstairs, stop by and introduce yourself and welcome Shelly to the Manatt team.

Also, this summer we were fortunate to have  Mary McDonald and Karla Benishek assisting us in the office.  Mary is the daughter of Duane (PPC Project Manager) and Vickie McDonald (Contracts Administrator).  Mary graduated from BGM this year and is getting started at the University of Iowa this fall majoring in sports medicine.  Karla is the daughter of Pam Benishek (Accounting Supervisor).  Karla will start her senior year of high school this fall at BGM.

In other accounting news, everyone is keeping quite busy.  Hey, we are in the middle of construction season with only one request; a few less rain days would be nice!

In addition to our daily tasks, we’re making progress on several other projects that relate to internal controls and technological advances.  We will be discussing those in future articles.
