Roger is the shop foreman at the Dewitt shop.  He had a serious accident at home a couple of weeks ago.  He got into a fight with a miter saw and lost.  He lost three fingers in the accident.  How many times could this of happened to any of us?  Roger is coming along very well mentally and physically (probably his wife would say he is doing “too much”).  He was flown to Rochester to try to get them reattached and it did not work.  Roger is very upbeat and he is the type of person that will do 100% of anything now, that he was going to do 2 weeks ago before the accident.  I told Roger

he probably won a spot to speak at the winter safety meetings.  Roger reminded me he doesn’t speak in front of crowds.  He has a real life story, though, that when they are told at safety meetings, hit home with people and everyone listens with both ears.  We’ll keep working with him on this.

Roger was in the process of building some concrete forms for retaining walls at his home.  There have been several Wendling employees helping Roger finish the concrete work so the trenches don’t fill in with dirt or mud with the rains.  Roger had more volunteers that were ready to come to his aid then he would have had room in the trenches.  Roger was able to use a handful of people that work most closely to him and on Sat. the 12th of Aug. the crew was putting concrete in the forms.  In the picture below you will see a few of the many that helped Roger on his project.  I know Roger and his wife, Marilyn, are very appreciative.  This is what is nice about working at a place that is family oriented.  If this were to happen to anyone else Roger would have been one of the first ones there to help them.  That is what friends are for.  In time of need, use your resources.  Those friends’ feelings would be hurt if you didn’t use them.  I as well as everyone else wish for Roger a quick recovery and look forward to his return to work soon.   Not all the people that helped Roger are pictured above.  A big Thank You to all, for the kindness displayed.
