What a day we had at Adventureland this year.
The weather was a tad bit warm, but luck was on
our side, we were better off than those the
weekend before when it was about 10 degrees
hotter! I was told that you couldn’t even stand
in the shade for more than 20 minutes without
turning into a wet washrag (and not from the
water rides either!).
Our crowd was HUGE this year; actually 2600
showed up and 1950 ate lunch with us. That is
our biggest year ever. Welcome to Allied
Construction and Redi-Mix, and Greene Limestone,
new to the Manatt group and hailing from Charles
City. And, other than the number of guests in
the park directly from Manatts, Inc., it looks
like LL Pelling Co. took the lead in attendance
over all the other subsidiaries.
I hope everyone enjoyed the noon show as much as
I did. Much thanks to the dancers and singers
who performed this year! It goes to show that
we really do have a lot of talent within our
family of companies. Someone actually already
approached me about joining in next year. So
get your vocal chords warmed up, your
instruments in tune, and your tap shoes dusted
off for our next gathering. If you have the
talent, don’t be afraid to show it off. Look at
the Smut Muffins, how great are they!!! Lex
Alig, who is bestowed with a wonderful voice,
can sure keep those beauties in line and get the
best out of each and every one of them.
So thanks again to all those big and small for
their time, talent and energy in entertaining
us. The show consisted of: Steve “Boat” (who
works in the parts department in Brooklyn) and
Sally Slaven’s daughters, Shae, Stephanie,
Stacey, & Shelby (just like stair steps)
performing two dance routines. Kiona Pommer,
who works for a karaoke company and has a great
voice and is the wife of Darren Pommer with
United Concrete, sang Dream by Fleetwood Mack.
McKenna, Maddison, and Macie Cline, daughters of
Ken (South Ready Mix Sales Manager) and Jennifer
Cline (daughter of John Manatt) did a skit with
the music of Itsy, Bitsy, Teeny-Weeny, Yellow
Polka Dot Bikini. And Ariana Ordaz, 11-year old
daughter of Alfredo Ordaz, who works for
Manatts, Inc., sang Red Neck Woman with the
powerful voice of a 20 year old. Boy, could she
belt out a tune. And then of course, there was
LexAnn and the Smut Muffins, who endlessly
pleased the crowd with their rendition of One
Fine Day by The Chiffons.

on this yearly outing is sometimes overlooked.
So on behalf of those families and couples who
enjoy the day immensely, many thanks! |
