We need everyone’s help with a process that is now being implemented within Manatts.     We are now going to get equipment meter readings from the fuel program.  We feel this will be more efficient and cost savings because if the equipment is being used it will be using fuel.  This will also help capture equipment productivity and if there might be any maintenance problems arising if the fuel usage is changing.  We have a number of different ways equipment is being fueled within Manatts and we hope to address all the processes.

Gasboy:

Gasboy is the fuel that is located at Brooklyn and Ames underground tanks.  We need everyone that is fueling at the fuel islands to please make sure you have your card and that you type in the correct equipment number and the correct meter readings at the time of fueling.  This information is also downloaded into the computer for less human typing errors and less handling of the information.

Comdata Card (Mastercard)

When you are out on the road and are fueling vehicles with your credit card we also need for you to provide the correct vehicle number and correct meter readings.  This information is then collected from the credit card company and Becky goes to the credit card’s web site and downloads the information also.  She collects the date, equipment number, odometer or hour meter readings, gallons, price on the web site, which she downloads into computer for less human typing errors and less handling of the information.

Portable Tanks, Yard Tanks, and Concrete Plant Tanks

All the information on these tanks is being captured manually.  We also need dates, equipment numbers, gallons, odometer or hour meter readings, and initials of the person fueling the equipment.  Weekly we need the reporting on these tanks turned into the Brooklyn office, whether there is any activity or not.  When you turn in your fuel sheets for these tanks, please make sure the tank unit number, location of the tank, the vendor which is adding fuel to the tank, and the supervisor responsible for the tank is on the fuel sheet.  We hope to have a process in place, that, at the end of the month, we will be able to track which tanks have reported and hopefully find any tank that we are missing.  Please be aware that we will be working to improve this process.

With everyone’s help we should be able to streamline this process so we can be efficient and help us to utilize where our fuel tanks are and help everyone to get accurate fuel usage for jobs, shops, and plants.  The correct information applied at the time of fueling is going to provide a mountain of information so that our equipment will be properly maintained and kept in excellent condition for use and help prevent breakdowns.
