The racetrack is paved and
Rusty Wallace has given it his stamp of
approval. That is a very big relief. I can’t
say that we got to this point without our share
of problems getting it paved. I am not going
into specifics on the problems, but we did need
some help from a lot of crews to put this job
together. I think all of the concrete paving
crew people including grading crews worked on
the project. All of the sub-drain, seal-coat
and flyash crews have worked on it. Three of
our five milling crews and all of the asphalt
people out of Newton worked on the track. I am
pretty sure any Manatt’s truck running out of
Brooklyn has hauled something on this project.
In my 26 years working for Manatt’s, I can’t
think of another project that has had so many
people working together and all committed to
building a quality project.
I would personally like to
thank everyone whom has been involved with this
project.
There is still a lot of work
to happen outside of the track itself before the
first race in mid September. Hope to see a lot
of you at the race.
Since the track project the
portable crew has been working on Hwy 212 in
Iowa County. This project consisted of
cold-in-place recycle and 40,000 ton of HMA
overlay. The asphalt is complete and they are
finishing the shoulders in the next couple of
days.
Curt has moved the plant to
Carroll County and is ready to produce some mix
as soon as the crew gets there sometime the week
of the 20th
of August. The Carroll project is 42,000 Ton of
HMA on 4 different projects. Hopefully this
project will be paved by mid September so we can
get to Muscatine County on Hwy 38 to do another
65,000 Ton of HMA.
This year looks like it is
going to be a big push right up to the end. |
