Most of you are probably familiar with
the parts department and what we do, but there might be a few of
you who are not. Here are a few facts and figures:
We keep about $500,000 worth of inventory on hand to
supply the various shops and crews working for Manatt’s. This
is roughly divided between truck parts and equipment parts.
There are seven employees that work out of this
department. Working the phones and the parts counter are B. K.
Waller, Will Hochstetler, Steve Slaven (aka Boat), and Todd
Kriegel (aka New Guy).
Boat and New Guy also have the responsibility of doing
all the work orders from the shops and job sites. Will has the
added responsibility of inventory control and helping out on
invoices.
Serena Shaull and Jane Cline do the vast majority of
invoices. No matter where parts and supplies are purchased, if
they are for a piece of our equipment, they get processed in the
parts department.
As you can see, this is a busy place. We take an average
of 100+ calls per day and are on track for moving about
$1,000,000 worth of parts through the department this year. We
are also constantly on the move, either picking up or delivering
whatever is needed, wherever it is needed. Bob McLain usually
does this.
Our hours tend to be long, because of the long hours put
in by our crews. We normally open up at around 4:00 am and close
around 9:00 pm, this being done in shifts.
This
is just a little insight into what we do here in the parts room.
We hope you will help us have a good and safe finish to the
season!
