The word insurance seems to arouse people in
many different ways.
Sometimes you hear nothing but good comments, then other
times the conversation is not so good.
Insurance plays an active role in every consumer’s
life. Whether
it be Health, Life, Business, Auto, or Home Insurance we all
somehow can become affected by the mysteries of insurance.
Then just about the time you feel the battle has been
conquered, you persevered, and now understand your insurance
policy, your Insurance Agent utters the immortal words this
claim is not covered by your all-risk insurance policy.
If you are lucky this will never happen.
Although luck has a way of running out and you may find
yourself dealing with a claim or accident that somehow feels
totally out of your control.
The purpose of this article is to help you to better
understand and cope when things do happen.
Develop a business plan whereby you become proactive and
communicate with your insurance agent on a regular basis.
Ask questions how a claim would be handled should a
partial loss occur to your property before it happens.
Pictures speak louder than words, I have learned.
Take pictures of your property and contents.
Share a copy with your agent and store a copy off
premise. Update
these photos as you acquire new things or remodel over time.
Should you ever suffer a loss, these photos will become
very helpful in settling the claim.
Keep insured values current with building trends and make
sure your agent understands and agrees with your goals.
Having ongoing communications with your insurance agent
builds trust and confidence that benefits everyone, should a
claim occur.
After all you have entrusted this party to protect your
liabilities and to insure the assets that you have worked hard
for.
