On July 17, we held the inaugural Manatt Family of Businesses
Mixer Driver Championship Rodeo at the Iowa Speedway in Newton,
Iowa. This event brought together the top mixer drivers from all
divisions of Manatt’s Ready Mix, Bard Materials, United Concrete and
Allied Ready Mix to determine the “Best Driver.” This event was
held to recognize the exceptional talent and skills of our mixer
drivers, who are the face of our company to our customers and the
heart of what makes us the best producers of ready mix concrete
anywhere. Bragging rights for an entire company were on the line,
as well as a trip to the National Mixer Driver Championship for the
winner of the competition.
The competition consisted of three components:
a challenge driving course, a written exam, and a walk-around
inspection. The winner had to excel at each of these components to
take home the grand prize!
The 16 participants were selected by a vote of
their peers as well as consideration of their safety record from a
pool of hundreds of drivers. Congratulations to all participants
and your families-- everyone there was deserving, and it was
gratifying to see how much talent we have among our family of
businesses.
It was a great day for the participants and
their families, as well as all those who came to spectate. It was
wonderful to have whole families there, getting to know each other
and reacquainting with old friends. The weather was blazing hot,
and the competition was tight, but in the end there could be only
one champion and so, drum roll please…..
Congratulations to Todd Brown, Montezuma plant,
Manatt’s Ready Mix! Todd will represent us at the National Mixer
Driver Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 10, 2010
at Charlotte Motor Speedway! Please support Todd and wish him luck
as he has the opportunity to be recognized as the Best Mixer Driver
in America! Todd’s name will also be the first to be etched onto the
Mixer Cup Trophy, which will be displayed in the home office of the
winning driver. Feel free to stop into the Brooklyn office to see
the hardware!
