| Reclamation is a valuable tool that can 1) use existing thin
layer asphalt pavement or seal coat as improved base material for a
replacement thin lift overlay or seal coat, or 2) convert gravel and
crushed rock into dustfree pavements. Stabilization improves soil
for pavements or building foundations.
Manatt's Inc. performs full-depth reclamation, cold-in-place
recycling, and soil stabilization with our Caterpillar RM350B Road
Reclaimer/Soil Stabilizer. This machine utilizes an 8’ wide mandrel
which is capable of mixing at depths of up to 18”. It pulverizes and
mixes flexible pavements, crushed rock, gravel and soil. Additives
such as asphalt emulsion, fly ash, lime, Portland cement, calcium
chloride and other chemical may be incorporated. The result is an
economical improvement to pavements and soils.
Full depth reclamation has been proven on a variety of streets,
roads, and parking lots to be a versatile, high quality, economical
maintenance procedure. The process is relatively fast and roads
being worked on can remain open to thru traffic. Once the bed has
been completely mixed the material is shaped and rolled to provide
the smoothest possible surface for overlay or seal coat. In the long
run this process will yield roads that last much longer and are
approximately 20% more economical than simply overlaying a poor
base. It is repair the right way – from the bottom up!
