7 Months of Work
The phased approach allows work to progress efficiently while minimizing disruptions and keeping critical milestones on schedule.
To support production demands, our teams are utilizing Manatt's portable concrete plant stationed near Interstate 80 to provide a reliable supply of concrete directly to the project. Close coordination between crews, suppliers, and subcontractors has helped keep construction moving safely and efficiently throughout each phase of the work.
Scope of Work:
The project consists of reconstructing the north and south ends of Runway 18-36 while adding a 500-foot extension to the north end. Improvements are focused on replacing deteriorating pavement and preparing the airport to accommodate larger aircraft in the future.
Purpose:
The reconstruction addresses aging infrastructure while expanding the airport's operational capabilities. Upon completion, the upgraded runway will support increased aviation activity and provide improved service for larger private jets utilizing the airport.
Impact:
By modernizing a key piece of transportation infrastructure, the project strengthens the airport's ability to serve businesses, pilots, and travelers throughout Central Iowa. The runway improvements will enhance reliability, increase capacity, and support future growth at the facility.
Reception & Results:
The project team has continued to work ahead of schedule, maintaining momentum while prioritizing quality and efficiency. Completion of Phase 1B marked a significant milestone, with the primary runway intersection finished and Runway 4-22 reopened to air traffic on schedule. This achievement allowed airport operations to resume while construction continues on the remaining phases of the project.
